Barbara Timm Obituary

Watertown, WI - Barbara "Barb" Timm (Hady) passed away in her home, with family around (exactly as she decreed it would be) on January 26 2025.

She was born in Watertown, WI on August 25th 1930 to Jerome and Margaret (Stoll) Hady. Barb grew up in Watertown. She was a lifelong member of St. Henry's Catholic Church. She graduated from Watertown High School before she married Fred Timm on October 8th 1949. Fred preceded her in death on May 29, 2009.

Barb and Fred created many wonderful memories over their lives, most involving their large family that included their children, Tim (Anna), Tom (Sylvia), Joellen Ploegert (Gary), Julie Arenz (Mark Stiemke), Joan Smebak (Tim). Grandchildren: Michelle Kidd (Phil), Kirby (Anna), Jeremiah (Kate), Jonathan (Stefanie), Teal Boarman (Rob Kimball), Nicole Smebak, Aaron

Smebak (Micayla), Janelle and Ken Peters, Josh (Jenny) Hesse,Courtney Manton, Alma Garma. Her great grandchildren: Chelsea Kidd, Cassidy Kidd, Darryl Bridges, Georgia Hooks, Reuben Boarman, Andrew Stiemke, Emma Peters-Smebak, Johnny Peters, Bennett Smebak, baby Smebak, Gracelyn Hesse and many other adopted grandchildren and great grandchildren over the years.

Barb's experience with large families started with her parents and her 14 siblings; Rita Otto, Dorothy Jean Pauli, Jerome Hady, Mary Jo Slone, Ellen Mei, Pete Hady, Ruth Knoll, Keith Hady, Bill Hady, Matt Hady and numerous nieces and nephews along with those who preceded her in death, John Hady, Paul Hady, Claire Ihle, Frannie Hady

Barb worked at Watertown Bowl for many years as the youth bowling coordinator. She was inducted into the Watertown Bowling Hall of Fame. After a long and varied career, she took her retirement job at St. Vincent de Paul for another 20 years.

She was an avid Wisconsin Badger hockey fan, especially the women's hockey team. She had season tickets and was a well known figure in the LaBahn arena, where strangers often would stop to chat about her homemade knit Wisconsin Badger sweater. She was such a well known figure that players' parents and other random fans would give her pins to add to her collection that she wore on her hat.

She had a very dry and sarcastic sense of humor that often caught you off guard and a knowing little smirk to go with her quips.

During her extensive years of cooking and baking, she curated a rather large cookbook collection, much to her daughter Joans chagrin. Many of these cookbooks will be looking for new chefs to test them out. You've been warned! In her later years, she became an avid cooking show viewer and nightly dinner table conversations usually started with, "Do you know what they did on The Kitchen today?" which drove her granddaughter Nicole crazy. She loved going on adventures, especially when it involved trying new restaurants. Many of these adventures came about because she was taking the long way home from anywhere she might be.

Special thank you to Rainbow Hospice for their guidance. Mark Hady for always being there to take her to the hockey games. Barb Manders, Joelle Kohler, Amy Wolf, and Courtney Manton for taking such great care of her this last month and always being there for us.

Visitation will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown, WI on Monday, February 17th starting at 9:30am until 1pm followed by a Catholic funeral mass at 1pm with Father David Drefcinski officiating. For those who would like, we ask you to come sporting your Wisconsin Badger wear because her favorite quote was "It's a great day for hockey" by Bob Johnson. Memorials can be made to Hosea's Heart or the charity of one's choice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.
