David Larry Marrs, 74, of Spokane Valley, WA, passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2023. He was born on February 14, 1949, in Logan, WV.
David had a distinguished military career, enlisting in the Army in 1969. He served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam, where he was awarded six Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, among many other medals. David was an Infantryman, Paratrooper, and Jump Master during his time in the Army. He was honorably discharged in 1978, at Fort Bragg.
After his military service, David pursued a career in law enforcement, serving with various police departments for 35 years. He ultimately became the Town Marshal of Elmer City, WA, and worked as a Reclamation Guide at the Grand Coulee Dam.
David's dedication to service extended beyond his career. He enjoyed showing visitors the Grand Coulee Dam, helping those in need, and riding his Harley. His commitment to his community and country was unwavering.
David is survived by his loving wife, Pam; son, Brandon (Susan); grandson, David Andrew; brother, William; sister, Mary Jane; niece, Emeleigh; and nephew, Trey. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Pearl Marrs; sister, Ginger; and brother, James.
A Service to honor David's Life will be held on June 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the VFW Building, 212 S. David St., Spokane Valley, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity are appreciated.
The Pacific Northwest Crematorium in Spokane Valley, WA, assisted the family with arrangements.
David was baptized a Methodist in Vietnam, attended St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, and found solace in worship wherever he was.
