Don Luther Obituary

Don C. Luther, 97, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at his residence in Fort Wayne. Don was born in Fort Wayne to the late Richard and Rosa Luther. He worked 37 years for Richman Brothers and retired in 1988, He was a US Navy veteran and member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Don was proud to be a member of Knights of Columbus Council 451 and Anthony Wayne Assembly 239, 4th degree. He was an avid and diehard Chicago Cubs fan and loved his family very much. Don is survived by his loving wife of 66 years (they would have celebrated their 67 year on August 23, 2025) Sharon Luther, children; Susan (Brian) Ault, Janet Shovlin, Chuck Luther and Kathleen Childers, sister; Anne Luther, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister; Betty Robbins, brothers; Clarence, Louis, Robert and Richard Luther, and son-in-law David Childers. Mass will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, with calling 1 hour prior to Mass. Calling also Monday August 25, 2025 from 1 to 3 pm and 5 to 7 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, with the Rosary recited at 12:30 pm by the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree Honor Guard. Don will be laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made in Don's honor to Gibault Children's Services, Terre Haute, IN, Knights of Columbus Council 451 or Masses. As Don liked to say "Had a little monkey, took him to the country, fed him on gingerbread, along came a choo-choo and knocked him cuckoo. Now my little monkey is dead." and "Do you think the rain will hurt the rhubarb.......not if it's in a can. He also like to say he was a "devout Catholic and self proclaimed coward."
