Leona Banks Obituary

Leona "Jean" (Clark) Banks passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Fort Wayne, IN. Jean was born on July 4, 1927, in Portsmouth, OH, to parents Chester L. and Wilma B. (Ham) Clark. She moved to Fort Wayne, IN, when she married Thomas E. Fleckenstein (deceased) in 1949 and lived here until she moved to Florida in the early 1970's. In 1974, she married William C. (Bud) Banks who survives her in Cocoa, Florida. In 2022, she returned to Fort Wayne, IN, with her daughter, Theresa Crabtree, so her daughters could care for her in her last years. Jean is survived by her children: daughters - Rita (Herb) Musser, Mary Gilbert and Theresa Crabtree – all currently of Fort Wayne, IN – and son, Paul (Kathryn) Fleckenstein of Dunnellon, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren – David (Ann) Musser, Melissa (Randy) Chi, Christopher Musser and Elizabeth Hanes, all of Fort Wayne, IN; Wendy (Ben) Yarema and Jason (Anna) Crabtree of Sanford, FL; Lacey (Seth) Bourne of Merritt Island, FL; Amanda (Shawn) Seminario and Justin Fleckenstein of Lecanto, FL. as well as 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. No funeral services are planned. Arrangements by Covington Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.
