Larry Godshall Obituary

Larry M. Godshall, 80, of Hatfield, PA, formerly of Lansdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Grand View Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. He went home to be with the Lord after a life well-lived. Larry was the devoted husband of Linda Lou (Nice) Godshall, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Sellersville, PA, Larry was the son of the late Elmer K. Godshall and the late Marion A. (Alderfer) Godshall. He graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in 1963 and went on to attend Hesston College in Kansas. Larry spent his professional life serving his alma mater, Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for an impressive 46 years. A man of deep faith, Larry was a lifelong member of Franconia Mennonite Church, where he was active in the church community and a longtime participant in the church softball league. He also generously gave of his time to volunteer with the Mennonite Resource Center in Souderton and Mennonite Disaster Service. Larry's passions were many: he loved fishing, gardening, hunting, playing sports, and cheering for his favorite teams - the Phillies and the Eagles. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, taking day trips to Lancaster, dining out, reading avidly, and spending time with his family. He especially cherished mentoring his nieces and nephews. Those who knew Larry will remember him as a kind, caring, soft-spoken, witty man with a quiet sense of humor and a heart full of gratitude. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Arlen Godshall & wife, Norma of Phoenix, AZ, and Durrell Godshall & wife, Sherry of Harleysville, PA; a sister-in-law, Mary Godshall of Telford, PA; and two brothers-in-law, Edwin Knox of Lebanon, OR, and Wesley Detweiler & wife, Rebecca of Harleysville, PA. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray Godshall; and his sisters, Darlene Knox and Lori Detweiler. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at Franconia Mennonite Church, 613 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA, followed by an informal visitation afterward. A private inurnment will take place at the Franconia Mennonite Church Columbarium.
