Martin Bertie Obituary

Martin P. Bertie, 83, of Upper Milford, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025. Born and raised in Hazleton, he was the son of the late August, Sr. and Effie (Hess) Bertie. Martin was a devoted husband of Linda L. (Weir) Bertie, with whom he recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he went on to retire from AT&T after 42 years of dedicated service. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Farber (Harry) and Kristen Fisher; his son, Jason Bertie (Christine); and his nine grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Pops": Courtney (Bruno), Darik, Logan, Zaccary, Kamron, Rebekah, Sebastian, Carina, and Gianna. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Aidan and Aurora. Martin was predeceased in death by his siblings, Esther, Elva, Norma, and August. A longtime member of Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, Martin will be remembered for his signature white Hames t-shirts, his love of landscaping, always having the right tool for the job, and his cheerful willingness to always enjoy "a little something" to eat. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. Services will be private. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Martin's memory may be made to Old Zionsville U.C.C.
