Robert Durdock Obituary
Robert "Bob" Durdock passed away on May 17, 2025 in Emmaus, PA at the age of 90, surrounded by loved ones.
Bob was born in Shamokin, PA on March 3, 1935, the son of Jacob and Catherine (Stellmach) Durdach. He played basketball and baseball for Shamokin High School and was named Salutatorian in 1953, his senior year. Bob was awarded a full tuition academic scholarship to Lehigh University, where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. He graduated in 1957 with a degree in civil engineering and later earned his masters in business administration from George Washington University.
Bob and his high school sweetheart, Corrine, were named steadiest couple in 1953 and were later married.
Bob was hired by Lehigh Portland Cement Company during college and worked at the Sandt's Eddy Plant in Easton during summers. His first assignment was at Mason City, Iowa as a surveyor. Corrine and son, Andy, joined him in Iowa. Bob's next assignment was at the Lackawanna Plant in Buffalo, NY as a plant engineer. While in Buffalo, Corrine, Bob, and Andy lived in south Buffalo and West Seneca. Daughter, Diana, and son, Thomas, were born in the Buffalo area. Bob was promoted to plant manager of the Lackawanna plant and the family moved to Hamburg, NY.
In 1968, Bob was promoted to plant manager of the Union Bridge, MD plant and the family moved to Frederick, MD. During this time, Bob discovered a love of playing tennis and golf. He especially enjoyed playing poker regularly with friends. Daughter, Pamela, was born in 1971 while in Frederick.
Bob was promoted to Vice President of Operations in 1985 and Bob, Corrine, and Pam moved to Emmaus, PA. Bob continued to play tennis and golf while in the Lehigh Valley and scored a hole in one at the Willow Brook golf course. Bob retired in 2000 having served 45 years with Lehigh Portland Cement Company. In retirement, Corrine and Bob became avid Phillies fans.
Bob was predeceased by brother, Paul, and sister, Caroline. He is survived by his wife, Corrine of Emmaus; children: Andrew and his wife, Naomi of Edgewater, MD, Diana Rieser of Middletown, MD, Thomas and his wife, Terri of Knoxville, MD, Pamela and her husband, Matthew Fenstermaker of Macungie, PA; grandchildren: Rebecca Rieser and her husband, Patrick Hatfield of Thurmont, MD, Matthew Rieser of Middletown, MD, and Alek Fenstermaker of Macungie, PA.
Also, surviving are brother-in-law, Richard Esher and his wife, Christina of Morrisville, PA, and many nieces and nephews in both Shamokin, PA and other PA locations.
