Robert Knosp Obituary

Robert L. Knosp, 80, of Riverview Park, passed away Friday, June 20th, at Tower Health Reading Hospital, West Reading. Robert was born in Lancaster on July 6, 1944, a son of the late Frances M. (Martin) and Karl Knosp and was the widower of Marsha L. (Rettew) Knosp. He was a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School and was Senior Class President. He then graduated from Millersville State College and St. Joseph School of Respiratory Therapy and Lancaster General Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy, Registered Inhalation Therapist # 228. He was Director of Respiratory Care at Joseph Medical Center from 1964 to 2001. He also worked as a salesman at Masano-Piazza Mazda from 2003 to 2020. Robert served on many boards over the years; Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church Church Council President, American Lung Association Chairman and President for 6 years, Berks Visiting Nurses Board of Directors & Medical Advisory Committee, Chairman, American Association for Respiratory Care VP, President-elect & President. Early in life he was a varsity letterman in wrestling, track & field (shot put & discus) and football. He loved playing tennis and jogging. Throughout his working years & into retirement he enjoyed working and "playing" in his backyard and vegetable garden with his sons, cutting firewood, family vacations to many beaches, dirt track stock car racing at Big Diamond, Grandview and old Reading Fairgrounds, sitting on the back patio overlooking his backyard while smoking a cigar and watching his favorite political TV channel. Robert is survived by his three sons, Patrick M. Knosp, husband of Wendy, of West Reading; R. Tyler Knosp, husband of Joanna, of Lititz; Rory C. Knosp, husband of Lara Leister, of Shillington; six grandchildren; Gage A. Long, Britton M. Knosp, Corbin P. Knosp, Madison R. Knosp, Morgan L. Knosp and Trevor T. Knosp; two step grandchildren, Liam and Alec, great granddaughters, Bowie Dawn Knosp and Grace Norah Long He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Monique M. Knosp. Family and friends are invited to gather Tuesday, July 8th from 10 AM to 12 PM at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Liberty St., Shillington, PA 19607. Memorial service will follow at 12 PM.
