Alfred Edward Gomez Jr.

WINSTED – Alfred Edward Gomez, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at his home. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Claire (Roy) Gomez for 47 wonderful years. Born July 27, 1940 in Queens, NY; the son of the late Alfred and Maria (Marolda) Gomez. Al proudly served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam. He was a dedicated and skilled floor installer like his Dad before him and he taught his son, Jason, his son-in-law, John, his grandson, Zachary and many others the trade. He was the 2nd generation of 4 generations of installers with an amazing work ethic. He always put family first and would help anyone with anything. He had a unique sense of humor and loved spending time with his family. Before his wife passed, they enjoyed living in Florida for 15 years. He is survived by his children, Holly Marzoni and husband Ed of FL, Sally Catena and husband John of Winsted, Jason Gomez and wife Jessica of Enfield and Matthew Gomez of Torrington; cherished grandchildren, Amber, Eddie, Dominic, Zachary, Maegan, Zane, Jakob, Serenity, Ryleigh and Lexi; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family he loved dearly. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Dolores Melchiorre. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 12, 2025 at Bad Dog Brewing Company, 117 Water Street, Torrington from 1 – 5 PM. Burial will be held at a later date with Military Honors.
