Claudette Morrison Obituary

Claudette Young Morrison, 76, of Hamden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 19th at Whispering Pines Rehabilitation Center, with her granddaughter at her side. She faced the challenges of multiple sclerosis with remarkable resilience, never allowing it to dim her spirit or her love for others. Claudette was born on September 25, 1948, in Bladen County, North Carolina, to the late Mary Jane Troy Young and Earl Young, whose love and guidance continued to shine through her life. She graduated from East Arcadia High School in 1966. She was known for her remarkable skill at typing, her sharp mind, and her ability to bring warmth and encouragement to everyone around her. Claudette's exceptional typing skills opened the door to her career as a secretary. She began working in New Jersey for a few years before making a permanent move to Connecticut, where she eventually became a respected legal secretary. Her dedication, precision, and professionalism were hallmarks of her work, and she took pride in every task she undertook. She married her husband, Jimmy, on February 14, 1981. Though confined to her bed in her later years, Claudette's spirit remained unbounded. From her bedside she offered wisdom, warmth, and love, reminding all who visited that strength is not measured by movement but by the heart. She found joy in the presence of family, in moments of laughter, and in the quiet peace of her faith. Even in stillness, she lived with grace, courage, and a love that will forever echo in the lives she touched. She was a faithful member of Hamden Plains United Methodist Church for over 30 years. She remained active in her faith, attending Bible Study with Tabernacle Holiness Church in North Carolina via Zoom. She could always be counted on to raise her hand and say "Amen". Claudette is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jimmy Morrison (Jimbo); her daughters, Tracy Smith and Kawanna Smith; and her grandchildren Brandon Thompson and Nyana Smith, with her sisters, Violet Young Beatty and Gwendolyn Young Brown, and her brothers, Zebeedee Young and John Young. She was predeceased by her siblings, Earl Young Jr. (Joan Young), Prestell Young Bryant, and Debra Jean Young. Claudette's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith. Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
