David L Goudreault

Burial Date August 27, 2025 David L. Goudreault, 83, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully at his home on August 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts, on March 25, 1942. He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Eloise Goudreault of Amesbury, MA, and by his sister Judith Hodge of Hollywood, FL. He graduated from Haverhill Trade High School in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was assigned to the 4050th Air Refueling Wing at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee. He was then deployed to Okinawa as a member of the 6313th Air Base Wing Detachment. He attended STCC as part of the Veterans' Career Prep Program, then worked as a cabinetmaker, ultimately retiring from Smith College after 34 years of employment. He was very proud of his service in the Air Force. David was a forty-one member of the American Legion Post 452, where he served as a past commander and a member of the board of directors. He enjoyed socializing and sharing stories with the other veterans. David was a simple man who found joy in the little things in life; he was an avid fisherman, poker player, and billiards shooter. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Western Massachusetts Duck Hunters Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was a devoted husband and instilled the love of the outdoors, the importance of service, and the value of hard work in his children and grandchildren. His quiet strength, love for family and friends, and easygoing spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Marilyn (Kos), and three children: Paula Goudreault of Chicopee, Jeffrey Goudreault of Chicopee, and his fiancée Debby Desrochers of Springfield, as well as Jon Goudreault and his wife, Julie, of South Hadley. David also leaves his three beloved grandchildren, David T. Goudreault of West Springfield, Michael Goudreault and Matthew Goudreault of South Hadley. Calling hours will be held at Cierpial Memorial Funeral Home, 69 East Street, Chicopee on Tuesday, August 26 from 4pm to 7pm. On Wednesday, August 27, his funeral will begin at 10:00 am. at Cierpial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus on Front Street in Chicopee at 11 am, and then burial at the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1pm.
