David Haddox Obituary

David Walter "Poppa" Haddox, age 90, passed away on March 10, 2025, in Manchester, Connecticut. Born on June 3, 1934, in Deming, New Mexico, David lived a life defined by dedication to his family, faith, and community. David served his country with honor for two years in the United States Army as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and fulfilling career. He briefly worked for G. Fox in Hartford, Connecticut, before spending 30 years as a licensed electrician at Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut. After retiring from Aetna, he continued to serve his community as the Sexton of Talcottville Congregational Church. A devoted member of Talcottville Congregational Church for over 50 years, David was actively involved in multiple committees and frequently volunteered his time to support the church's mission. His commitment to service extended beyond the church walls-he was also a dedicated Scout Master for Troop 11 of the Boy Scouts of America for more than three decades, mentoring and guiding countless young men. David found great joy in spending time with his family and cherished every moment shared with them. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping trips with family and friends. His passion for reading kept him engaged throughout his retired life, and he was an avid fan of UConn Men's and Women's Basketball. His love for animals was evident in the special bond he shared with his dogs. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Haddox; daughter Pamela Corcoran and husband Timothy Corcoran; son David H. Haddox; grandchildren Rebecca Stevens and her husband Karl, and Melissa Alford and her husband David Alford; as well as great-grandchildren Olivia and Connor Stevens, and Amelia Alford; and sisters Millie McCollough and Susan Fisk. David was predeceased by his beloved son Kenneth Lewis Haddox, parents Maureen Baldwin and Howard Haddox; step-parents Lauren Baldwin, Irene Fisk, and Mel Fisk; siblings Don Baldwin, Ron Baldwin, Carolyn Whiteside, James Haddox, Delbert Haddox, Howard Haddox, Alice Miles, and Nancy Lee. A funeral service will be held on March 17, 2025, at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home located at 400 Main Street in Manchester, Connecticut. Calling hours will take place from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a service until 12:00 PM. David will be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who always gave generously of his time. His kindness touched many lives, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and dedication that will not be forgotten.
