David Kelly Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David F. Kelly on May 7, 2025 due to complications of Crohn's Disease. His death comes just 2 years after the loss of his beloved wife Jessica (Cattan) Kelly. David was the second born son of the late James C. Kelly and the late Monica Banta. He spent his childhood in Manchester and Ellington. In 1998 David married the love of his life Jessica, and together they made their home in Newington before moving to East Berlin, CT in 2002. The couple cherished their many travels to the Philippines where they visited Jessica's family and immersed themselves in Filipino culture. After each trip abroad and upon his return he always had great stories to share about their escapades. He will be deeply missed by his six siblings and their spouses, Deborah and Daniel Miller of Tolland, Paul and Dayna Kelly of Ellington, Lisa Banta and Talal Ghazal of McLean, VA, Brian Banta of Ellington, Jennifer and Jason Ertel of Waterbury and Shannon Holmes of Portales, NM. He is also survived by his dear friend Kristi Lynn Tetreault of Somers whom he considered to be like a daughter and his Step-Father Reynaldo Banta of Ellington. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, first cousins and lifelong friends (Willie, Johnny-Five, Carl and Ali). He was predeceased by his older brother James N. Kelly. A graduate of Ellington High School and Porter Chester Institute for Computer and Network Technology, David worked as a computer repair technician for Hewlett Packard for 17 years, traveling to clients' businesses to provide on-site service. Prior to Hewlett Packard he worked for a computer vendor who positioned him as an onsite computer tech at ESPN and Northeast Utilities. David's passions included carpentry, music, playing guitar, ten pin bowling, where he twice bowled a perfect 300 and the Boston Red Sox. When it came to computers, printers, software or anything electronic he was the family's 'go-to guy' to get it installed or fixed right. Known for his sense of humor, David loved to laugh and often lightened the mood with jokes and playful pranks, much to the dismay of his siblings and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday May 16, 2025 at Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St. Rocky Hill. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 17th 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church 48 Cottage St. East Berlin with burial immediately following in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. "So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy." John 16:22 To plant Memorial Trees in memory of David F.
