Donna Culhane Obituary

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and nurse Donna June Culhane passed on to heavenly rest while enfolded in the love of her family on June 13, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital. Donna was the beloved wife of Neil Culhane for over 57 years. Born in Wellsville, New York, Donna was one of 7 children of the late Robert and Margaret (Rogers) Heysham. Following her heart and keen intellect, Donna pursued her education to becoming an LPN, caring for her patients with compassion, skill and encouragement for over 40 years before her retirement. Donna enjoyed a challenge, a summer novel and a good episode of her America's Got Talent. As wife and mother of three sons, Donna poured her heart and soul into her family. The home movies the family enjoyed making reveal her spark, humor and love of her family. She was passionate in advocating for her children and patients and dedicated to ensuring the best outcome for all. As a fitness enthusiast, she enjoyed walking and the gym. Family was the center of Donna's life. She and Neil married in 1968 and devoted their love and lives to raising their three sons. A multitude of stories, laughs and beautiful memories were amassed over the past 57 years of the Culhane family. From camping their way across the United States, to family game nights to the many family vacations in Cape Cod; Donna leaves a vivid tapestry of her love of her family. She was the quintessential winner of the Thanksgiving football pool, the baker of the best cinnamon raisin bread, the sometime Wordle champion and a inexplicable password game Password clue giver. Her grandsons Tristan and Caleb were the light of her eye. The Culhane Clan has been blessed with Donna as their matriarch and will forever honor and cherish her love and memory. Loving wife, devoted mother and mother in law, grandmother, sister, aunt, nurse and good friend. Donna always felt blessed by her good life. Donna leaves to cherish her love and memory besides her loving husband Neil: her sons Timothy of Hamden and Jeffrey and his wife Beth of Cheshire and their sons Tristan and Caleb. She also leaves her brothers Robert and James Heysham and sister Jane Price and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends especially the Carrington family of Middlebury who were more like family. She is also survived by her brother in law Tim and his wife Ann Culhane of Ca as well as sister in law Marcia Culhane of Ma. And of course, she will be missed by her "grandpup" Max. Donna is now reunited with her precious son Joshua who most assuredly welcomed her to heaven. She is also predeceased by her parents and sisters Shirley and Dorothy and brother Donald Heysham. Arrangements: Visitation will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2025 from 11am to 12 noon at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. A Celebration of Life Service for Donna will begin at 12noon.
