Dorothy Moore Obituary

Dorothy Lynn "Dot" Moore, 77, of Branford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025. She was born on October 1, 1947, in Pitt County, North Carolina, to the late Zeno and Reatha Moore. Dorothy spent many years as a dedicated employee at St. Raphael's Hospital until her retirement. She was a devout woman of faith and served on the Mother Board and as a loyal member of Friendship Baptist Church. Known for her wonderful sense of humor and love of laughter, Dot was a vibrant and cherished presence to all who knew her. She will be fondly remembered for her incredible cooking, which brought family and friends together for countless meals and celebrations. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Moore, and grandson, Kyshant Moore Jr. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mamie Cherry, Nancy Phillips, Adell Stancil, and Elizabeth Moore; and her brothers, Zeno Moore Jr., John Lee Moore, Charles Moore, Phillip Moore Sr., Arthur Ray Moore, Jimmy Lee Moore Sr., and William Herman Moore Sr. Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Purvis Moore and Anthony Moore of New Haven, CT, and Kyshant (Na'imah) Moore Sr. of Hamden, CT; and her daughter, Keyana Moore of New Haven, CT. She also leaves behind her sister, Ruby Moore of Greenville, NC, and two brothers, Curtis Moore and George Moore, also of Greenville, NC. She was a loving grandmother to Keyiejah Moore and Ever Moore, and a proud great-grandmother to Kayleigh Moore. She will also be deeply missed by her favorite nephew, Marcus Moore, and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
