Jean "Pellegrino" Poglitsch

Jean (Pellegrino) Poglitsch, 89, previously of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Joseph W. Poglitsch, died peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Jefferson House in Newington. Jean was born in Hartford, CT, on September 4, 1935, daughter of the late Michael V. and Beatrice (Marcoux) Pellegrino. She grew up in West Hartford and attended Hall High School. While raising her four daughters, she worked as a school crossing guard and police matron for the City of Hartford. Prior to her retirement, she worked at ADVO, a direct mail marketing firm. Jean enjoyed bowling, watching UCONN Huskies basketball, the beach, and was a member of Sweet Adelines for 30+ years, a singing hobby she enjoyed immensely. She also cherished time spent knitting and visiting with her sister, Elaine who was always there for her. Above all, she was happiest with her family, and they will miss her dearly. She leaves her daughters, Deborah Iliff and husband Robert of Gales Ferry, Laura Machia of Vernon, Kim Davoren and husband John of South Windsor, and Tracy Conery and husband Michael of South Windsor; her sister, Elaine Phillips and husband Stan of Avon; her grandchildren, Joseph Davoren and wife Danielle of Port St. Lucie, FL, Nicole Borgia and husband Massimo of Cheshire, Brett Conery of Hartford, and Erica Ambrosio and husband Evan of Glastonbury; her great grandchildren, Francesca, Mila, Luke, and Sienna and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Marie Sears, her first husband, Donald F. Machia, and her grandson Donald Dellaripa Jr. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the entire staff at Jefferson House.
