Karen Taylor Obituary

Karen Lynn Taylor, 79, of West Hartford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 with her family by her side. Her husband of 46 years, David Taylor, Jr. predeceased her in 2019. She is survived by her loving daughter, Amanda B. Alfonso and her husband Alejandro of West Hartford; her brother, Jerold S. Cohen of Woodbine, NJ; her grandchildren: Raphael Alfonso, Lilliana Alfonso and Rowan Alfonso and many dear friends. Everyone always said "she was the nicest person in the world" and she could talk to anyone. All who knew her will miss her dearly. Karen was born in Boston, MA and raised in Sharon, MA the daughter of the late Ralph L. and Jean B. (Sandler) Cohen. She graduated Sharon High School before attending UMASS Amherst where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in education and then her Masters Degree in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University in New Haven. Karen was a lifelong educator teaching English as a Second Language and kindergarten in the Hartford Public School System to elementary school children over 35 years until her retirement in 2001. She was an avid "duckpin" bowler, Bridge player, reader, theater goer and traveler. Alaska and Hawaii were on her bucket list and she was so excited to have visited both states. Karen brought Amanda to France after her high school graduation, she went on cruises with her best friends and spent her summer vacations at their family cabin on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire. Being with her family and grandchildren was what she loved most. A funeral service is Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd, Newington, CT 06111 followed by burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill, CT.
