Katherine (Glass) Smithwick, 71, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Philip Smithwick. Born on September 13, 1953, in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Dorothy Ann (Truax) Glass. Katherine was a graduate of Cheshire High School, class of 1971. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother known for her witty sense of humor. Katherine found great joy in playing with her grandsons, Miles Henry and Arthur Jack, vacationing with her family on Cape Cod, and spending time with her close friends. She especially loved going to the casino and enjoying music by her favorite artists including Jimmy Buffet and Elvis. Throughout her career, she held various positions, including with the Wallingford Public Schools, Bloomingdale's, Verizon Wireless, and Calcagni Real Estate. In addition to her husband, Philip, she is survived by her son, Benjamin; her daughter, Jane, and son-in-law, Joshua; her two beloved grandsons; and her brothers, John Glass Jr. (Karen) and Bill Glass (Kathi). Katherine was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Buckley (Dennis) and Marion "Pookie" Krasney (Zane). A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date. Her memory will be cherished forever by all who knew and loved her.
