Lynnette Derosier Obituary

I hope heaven is ready for this spitfire. Lynnette "Lynn" Derosier (née Karp), age 77, passed away on April 29, 2025, in New Britain, Connecticut following a 2 year stand off with cancer. She fought bravely, cursed creatively, and added humor bbut finally decided it was time to head home. Lynn was born in New Britain and raised her family in Plainville CT. Her unmistakable presence left an impression on everyone she met. Known for her sarcastic humor and unforgettable personality, Lynn could make you laugh until you cried-or run for cover if you crossed her. She was blunt and loving, but one rule was clear: do not disrespect her-especially when it came to the Yankees. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Lynn's passion for competition began early. In high school, she once scored an impressive 28 points in a single basketball game. Her love of sports continued throughout her life, especially in cherished moments spent watching Celtics games with her daughter Dawn. Together they would yell at the TV while enjoying Pepsi and Stateline potato chips. Other favorite pastimes included beating everyone at card games, hanging out of windows and trips to the casino. Those that are left to laugh at her memories and remember her with love include her daughter Dawn Sakamoto and her husband Aje with children Ellie and Jack; daughter Staci; her grandchildren Miranda, Dustin, and Morgan; her favorite sister Gail, husband Rick and son Jeremy; 'adopted' daughter Magen and her daughters Brooke and Ava; and granddog Paisley. She is reunited with her parents, Corinne Siegel and George Karp; brothers Mark Karp and Philip Siegel; grandmother Gertrude; sister-in-law Janice; grandson Jason; great friend Erna; and the sweetest granddog, Olivia-to cause some chaos in heaven. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hartford Hospice and Jerome Home for their exceptional care during Lynn's final days-especially Iris, Mary Jo, Annette, Amanda, and Carmel. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, Lynn simply said: "I had a good life, no regrets." Rest easy, Momma Lynn. You will be forever missed and loved. The basketball courts are now yours. Show them how it's done. In true Lynn fashion, there will be no formal services, just fond memories and a toast in her honor.
