Michael T. Korwek

Michael Thomas Korwek, 69, of Guilford, CT, formerly of North Haven, passed away peacefully at Smilow Cancer Hospital on Monday, August 11, 2025. He was married to the late Donna Barnard Korwek. Michael was born in Wallingford, CT on June 19, 1956, to the late Robert Joseph Korwek and Elizabeth Jean (Garry) Korwek. Michael is survived by his four siblings, Kevin John Korwek, Jane Frances Pisani (Nunzio), Peter Garry Korwek (Kelly), and Robert Joseph Korwek, Jr. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his nephew Alan Dennis Lima. Mike graduated from North Haven High School in 1974, where he was a member of the football team. He was often referred to as "Meatball", a nickname that followed him throughout his adult life. Mike attended American International College in Springfield, MA, where he was an active member of Tau Epsilon Phi. He remained an active member of the Fraternity throughout his adult life and attended most Homecomings at AIC. While in attendance at the College, Mike could be heard many nights on AIC Radio where he DJ'd during his tenure there. Michael was a maintenance supervisor at Stop & Shop and a member of the Teamsters Union. He retired from Stop & Shop in 2005. Mike had a deep love for music and was a virtual encyclopedia of knowledge and would beat anyone in Trivial Pursuit when it came to music trivia. He had an extensive vinyl collection and traveled to many different venues in the tri-State area with Donna to attend concerts. They enjoyed playing Backgammon and shooting Pool together. He was a member of the American PoolPlayers Association. The family would like to thank the many nurses, doctors and hospital personnel that assisted in Michael's care. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on September 5th, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 pm at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to Branford Point Park, 4 Harbor Street, Branford, CT 06450.
