Muriel A. Basilio

Muriel A. Basilio, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital-St. Raphael Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of 62 years of Gennaro "Chick" Basilio. Born in New Haven on May 7, 1941, daughter of the late Patrick and Loretta Normandy Faherty, Muriel was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, class of 1958, where she was class valedictorian. She later graduated from the Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing. Muriel enjoyed traveling with her family, visiting the 48 contiguous States, bowling, and hosting and entertaining for family and friends, especially for Christmas and the Fourth of July. She was also a devoted fan of the UCONN Women Huskies. She is the proud mother of Laura (Michael) Levesque, Lynn (Howard) Mason, Joseph (Jocelyn) Basilio and David Basilio. Sister of Dorothy Pierce, Eileen Bransfield and the late Barbara Atkinson. Grandmother of Sarah (Dustin) Wells, Elizabeth (Mack) Phillips, Mary (Mason) English, and Erin and Daniel Mason. Great-grandmother of Molly, Ellie and Kenneth Wells. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Raphael Hospital for their thoughtful care of Muriel during her final days. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday morning at 11:00 in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 80 Taylor Ave., in East Haven. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. The Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. is in care of her arrangements.
