William Downs Obituary
William T. Downs
"Beloved brother & uncle"
William T. "Bill" Downs, 77, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital with his sister by his side.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 17, 1947, a son of the late John and Frances (Dzinsky) Downs. He was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School and Sacred Heart High School. While at Sacred Heart, Bill was a standout swimmer. He also earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Hartford. Before his retirement, he worked in water treatment for the City of Waterbury and the Town of Bristol. He very much cared for the environment and gave to many of those causes. He loved animals, especially cats. He was a great Jeopardy fan and crossword puzzle doer, and shared his Wordle and NY Times Connections efforts to compete with his nieces and sister. He loved rock music.
Bill leaves his sister, Mary Downs, and her husband, Thomas Walsh, of Washington, DC, two nieces, Sarah Downs Walsh of Charlestown, MA and Julia Downs Walsh and her husband, Rory Francis of Charlestown, MA and one nephew, Benjamin Downs Walsh of Washington, DC.
Arrangements: Calling hours for Bill will be held on Friday evening, June 6, 2025 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial of his cremains will follow in Calvary Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in William's memory to: An animal rescue charity or an environmental charity of one's choice.

Worked with Bill for a number of years.
Going to miss are night talks at Bristol plant and a few times at his house.
Great Guy will miss him.
