William Gratton Obituary

William G. Gratton, 80, of Meriden, passed away on June 28, 2025. Born in Hartford on March 8, 1945, a son of the late Theodore and Ruby Viens Gratton, William is survived by his children, Heidi Gratton and Jason Gratton and his wife Caroline, grandchildren, Jacob Gratton and Samantha Griffing, brother, Robert Mercier, ex-wife, Marie Lissy Gratton, nephew, Shane Gratton and his wife Theresa, and niece, Kathleen Pringle Harlow. He was predeceased by his brother, Theodore Gratton, and sisters, Nita Foraker and Noreen Pringle. After graduating from Newington High School and New England Technical School, William worked as an HVAC technician at Stop & Shop for many years and then went on to work security at Gaylord and other medical facilities in Connecticut. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and watching UCONN basketball, and was a loyal Boston Red Sox and Celtics fan. Above all else, he loved watching his grandson's baseball games and spending time with his family. Friends may visit with William's family on Thursday July 3, 2025, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave. Meriden. A funeral service celebrating his life will follow at 8:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
