Willie Alexander Obituary
With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Pastor Willie Alexander, affectionately known as "Frank," who entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born on January 13, 1941, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to the late James and Erial (Coleman) Alexander, Pastor Alexander dedicated his life to faith, family, and service. A man of unwavering devotion, he was a pillar of Mount Olive Baptist Church for many years, serving under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Richard E. Battles III and Bishop J. L. Fenner. His commitment to ministry was evident in his many roles: Chairman of the Deacon Board, member of the Male Chorus and Voices of the Mount, Trustee Board, Kitchen Committee, and Men's Usher Board. Through his powerful voice, he ministered in song, lifting spirits with heartfelt renditions of "I Know the Lord Will Make a Way," "God Has Smiled on Me," "Near the Cross," and many others that stirred the soul.
After retiring from Aetna Life and Casualty Company in 1997, following 35 years of dedicated service, Pastor Alexander answered a higher calling. He was ordained at First Monumental Faith Ministries under Pastor Roosevelt Carter Sr. and went on to shepherd the congregation of Blue Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, with compassion and conviction until his health no longer allowed.
Pastor Alexander was known not only for his spiritual leadership but also for his warmth, humor, and impeccable grooming. He believed in the beauty of simplicity-good food, clean living, and a well-kept appearance. His legendary barbecue sauce, lovingly dubbed "the best on this side of heaven," became a cherished staple among family and friends. If you know, you know.
He was preceded in death by his six siblings, whose memories he carried with grace.
Left to honor his legacy are his beloved wife of 61 years, Emma Alexander; his children, Tony Alexander of Windsor Locks, CT, Terry (Jonathan) West of Bloomfield, CT, and Danny (LaTisa) Alexander of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a Godson; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and dear friends.
Pastor Willie Frank Alexander's life was a testament to faith and love. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Pastor Alexander's family will receive family and friends on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10am-11am, followed by a Homegoing Service at 11am, at Mount Olive Church Ministries, 20 Battles Street, Hartford, CT. The interment will follow immediately after in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery.
