Bernice Klinefelter

Bernice Klinefelter, age 90, of Pittsfield, Il. died Monday (April 21, 2025) at Barry Community Care in Barry, Il. She was born February 19, 1935 in Milton, Il. daughter of the late Jesse Hamer and Coy Emeline Doyle Chaplin. She married Paul "Buster" Klinefelter on August 8, 1952 in Pittsfield, Il. and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2009. Surviving is her daughter Joyce Brown of Griggsville, Il.; grandchildren, Duane Brown and wife Amanda of Pittsfield, Il. and Christine Kramer (Alex) of Waverly, Il.; eight great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Brianna, Brentin, Braden, Bryan, Jessica, Dalton, and Colt; one great-great granddaughter, Okley Mae; siblings, Billy Joe Chaplin (Carol) of Hannibal, Mo., Lyndell Chaplin (Dee) of Quincy, Il., Jesse Chaplin (Judy) of Plainville, Il., Karen Fowler of Pittsfield, Il., Grace Coppess (Max) of Stanwood, Ia., and Danny Chaplin (Diane) of St. Charles, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Helen Robinson, Hamer Chaplin, Wanda Smith and Jenny Helms. Bernice worked alongside her husband on their farm many years. She loved to garden and sew. She was a past member of Pike Co. Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday morning (April 25, 2025) at Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Il. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Griggsville. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.
