Jacqueline K. "Jackie" Collins

Jacqueline "Jackie" K. Collins, 80, of Payson, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025, at her home in Payson, IL. Jackie was born September 10, 1944, in Hannibal, MO to Harry and Iola (Clark) Pleasant. She was married to Richard Collins on May 1, 1965, at Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy, IL. Other survivors include her three children, Todd Collins (Julie) of Monticello, MO, Shawn Collins of Truro, IA, and Dawnell Spilker (Ted) of Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren, Zachary Spilker, Austin Spilker, Kelcie Collins, and Grant Collins; one sister in-law, Phyllis Pleasant; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Harry Dean Pleasant. Jackie's educational journey began at Pettibone Grade School, continued at Central Grade School, and culminated at Hannibal Jr. High. Her professional path was diverse and fulfilling, with roles at International Shoe Company, Bobby Brooks, Motorola, 8th Ave Villager as a Seamstress, and finally, as a dedicated custodian at Liberty School District, from which she retired. Beyond her career, Jackie's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid gardener, she found solace and joy in the outdoors. Her love for bowling was profound; she was an active participant at the Tangerine Bowling Alley in Quincy, IL, where her team, Action Auto Parts, competed with spirit. Jackie was a certified life member of the National 600 Bowling Club, a testament to her skill and dedication to the sport. Her artistic talents shone brightly through her paintings, where she skillfully captured realistic scenes with acrylics. Jackie's creativity extended to crafting, where she made beautiful wreaths and painted ornaments, especially during the Christmas season. Her sewing skills were impeccable, showcased in every suit she lovingly made for her husband. Jackie's love for animals, particularly her cats, was a testament to her kind and nurturing spirit. A voracious reader, she found pleasure in religious magazines and western books, often losing herself in the stories they told. Recognized for her culinary prowess, Jackie's fried chicken, potato salad, and watergate salad were legendary among family and friends. Her extensive collection of cookbooks was a treasure trove of recipes and memories. Traveling was another of Jackie's joys, with memorable trips to Branson, Yellowstone, Nebraska, and Memphis enriching her life with adventure and new experiences. Her love for the color purple was more than a preference; it was an expression of her vibrant personality. Jackie will be forever remembered for her spunky spirit, her unwavering love for her friends and family, and the countless lives she touched with her generosity and kindness. Friends and Family are invited to Jacqueline 's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Monday, August 18, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy. Rev. Sheri Renner will officiate. Burial will follow at Payson New Cemetery in Payson, IL. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple to the visitation and/or funeral service, as it was Jackie's favorite color.
