Steven E. "Sturg" Fielding

Steven E. Fielding "Sturg", 66, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his home in Quincy, IL. Sturg was born September 30, 1958, in Quincy, IL to Joseph and Delores (Neece) Fielding. He was married to LeaAnn Humke on October 10, 1981, in Quincy, IL. She survives. Other survivors include his three children, Steven Fielding Jr. (Jennifer), Krista Fielding, and Shawn Fielding; ten grandchildren, Kevin, Kaylee, Kyler, Katelynne, Kaydon, Lily, Autreyu, Addy, Alayna, and Adelynn; two great grandchildren, Mayzie and Haven; and one sister, Brenda McGinley (Butch). Sturg was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joseph Fielding; and one sister, Linda Barton. Sturg's professional life was spent as a line cook at Kelly's, where he was a masterful cook always striving for pride in his food. His colleagues knew him as a reliable and friendly presence in the kitchen, always ready with a story or a helping hand. Beyond his work, Sturg was a man of many passions. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing. He reveled in the excitement of playing slots at his favorite casinos. An ardent poker player, Sturg also enjoyed the camaraderie of the game. He was an avid fan of boxing, UFC, and WWE. Music filled Sturg's life with joy, and he was a frequent face in the crowd at concerts, having seen bands such as REO Speedwagon, Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row, and Shinedown. These live music experiences were some of his most treasured moments. Yet, above all else, Sturg was a family man. His grandchildren knew him as the one who would always ensure the pool was clean for their summer fun. His dogs knew him as a gentle caretaker. And LeaAnn knew him as her soulmate, sharing quiet moments that now become cherished memories. Sturg's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved him, but his spirit of kindness, his love of life, and his unwavering commitment to his family will continue to inspire us all. He will be deeply missed. Friends and Family are invited to Sturg's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor John Mitchell officiating. Private family burial will take place at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy, IL.
