Eileen Faulkner

Eileen Faulkner, age 82, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Haverhill, Massachusetts. Eileen was born in Haverhill on July 26, 1941, the only child of Anthony A. and Bernice (Migliori) Insero. After graduating from Haverhill High School in 1959, Eileen received her BA degree in French Language Studies from the University of New Hampshire. She continued her studies at the State University of New York in New Paltz, NY, and received an MS in French education. Eileen loved teaching and taught French for over 30 years at New Paltz High School. She was known for upholding rigorous academic standards and pushing her students to learn and excel. She also took a keen personal interest in her students and left an indelible impression on the lives of so many of them. Eileen also taught with the Language Immersion Institute, as well as the undergraduate and graduate French programs at SUNY New Paltz. In 1991 Eileen was honored by Cornell University for her influence over one of her former students who attended the university. A four-year academic scholarship was established in her name, the Star Scholarship. Eileen is survived by her daughter, Michèle (Faulkner) Dollar; her son, Scott Faulkner and his wife April, and by her three grandchildren whom she adored: Landon and Aidan Faulkner, and Brieanna Dollar. She is also survived by her former student, Andrew Sendall, whom she always called her second son, and who helped her tremendously during her life and especially end-of-life. Eileen learned to ski at the age of 50, and she and her longtime partner, Larry Healy, skied in Colorado and Utah as well as across the East Coast. She said the hardest exam she ever passed was the Professional Ski Instructors of America Level 1 Amateur Ski Instructor test. She loved to travel and visited France extensively over the years, as well as Italy and Switzerland. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Monday, July 29 from 10-11:30 AM at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer Street, Haverhill with a service to follow. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford.
