John Bainter Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that the family of John A. Bainter, Jr., 67, of Bradford, MA, we announce his passing on Thursday, June 12, 2025. John was born on February 8, 1958, in Providence, RI. After graduating high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for 10 years as a tactical aircraft maintenance technician. During his military career, he was stationed in New Mexico, New Hampshire, and Florida. After his military service, John worked as a truck driver for Estes Express. He loved the freedom of the open road and especially enjoyed meeting new people along his route, always ready with a story to share. For the last several years, John called Presidential Gardens in Bradford home, where he was known as a thoughtful and helpful neighbor. He was often seen clearing snow from sidewalks and parking spaces, always lending a hand where needed. Golf was a lifelong passion, as were dad jokes and cherished moments spent with family. John's sense of humor, quick wit, and his ability to make others smile were a constant source of warmth and joy for those who had the privilege of knowing him. John was an incredibly proud father. His children-John, III, Jason, and Ashley-were his heart and his pride. Whether sharing advice, telling jokes, or simply spending time together, his devotion to them never wavered. John was predeceased by his parents, John A. Bainter, Sr. and Dorothy (Iovino) Bainter. He is survived by his brothers James (and his partner Denise) of RI, and Robert of FL; his children John A. Bainter, III (and his wife Maryann) of Amesbury, Jason (and his wife Krystal) of Atkinson, NH and daughter Ashley of Catlett of VA; as well as his beloved grandchildren Mary Grace and Savannah Meekins of Catlett, VA. He is also survived by his fiancée, Marilyn Kelleher of Bradford, whose love and support brought comfort and happiness to John's life for the last 13 years, and her children David Kelleher, Christopher Kelleher and Mark Kelleher and his partner April; along with many other cherished family members and dear friends. And to close with one of John's favorites: Why did the golfer bring an extra pair of pants? In case he got a hole in one! Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by this link here or by mail to 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
