Jonathan Meader Obituary

Jonathan Paul Meader, born on July 14, 1964 in Methuen, MA, found his peace on August 12, 2025 at the age of 61 following a prolonged illness.

Jon, or Jonny-Ah to those who knew him well, was proud husband to Melanie, adored father to Dalton, Evan, and Eric, revered father-in-law to Maddie, and doting grandfather to Russell Jonathan. He is also survived by siblings Mark (The Wise), Betsey (The Princess), Danny (Oh Brother), and Jimmie (Not as Funny as Jonathan) as well as numerous relatives.

A 1982 graduate of Georgetown Jr-Sr High School in Massachusetts, Jon worked at United Foam and Plastics and saved his money to buy an RV and travel around the US and Canada. He made it only as far as Key Largo, FL before he ran out of cash and was forced to get a job. Then he met a girl, the great love of his life, and there was no turning back. They wed, started a family, moved to Buford, GA, and laughed EVERY SINGLE DAY!

Jonny was an avid photographer and passed this passion on to his incredible children. Developing his skill at a young age, he even constructed his own darkroom in the basement of his boyhood home in Georgetown, MA. His photographs never appeared in Life Magazine and now that publication is no longer in print. Hmmm...

As a teenager, he discovered deep sea fishing while boating with his friends out of Newburyport, MA and continued this passion in Key Largo, FL. An expert pizza maker, Jon would wow the entire neighborhood with his dough-tossing acrobatics. He loved the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia and spoke of them incessantly while showing off every photo he'd ever taken. He was a great woodworker and could fix anything, but he was definitely not a plumber.

Raised by his parents the late Albert Edward and Betty Francis (Tidd), Jon was considered a triple threat: the most handsome in the family, a bit of a rogue, and unbelievably hilarious. He could talk a mile a minute, barely taking a breath between sentences, and would spoil every episode of every TV show and movie by reciting the entire plot from start to finish. Taking into account the "Jonny-ah Exaggeration Factor," he never let the truth get in the way of telling a good story. In addition to English he could speak fluent nonsense. Basically, he was cooler than Fonzie (if you're under 40, look it up).

He brought joy and laughter to all, and made everyone he met feel like family. He will forever be the funniest guy in the room.

A celebration of life will be announced in the coming days.
