Donald Ray Pieper

1927 - 2018

QUINCY -- Donald Ray Pieper, 91, of Quincy, died at 4:21 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at Good Samaritan Home.

He was born April 14, 1927, in Quincy, a son of Adolph Fred and Ruth Fay Sloniger Pieper. On Dec. 14, 1968, he married Mary E. Baker Logsdon in Quincy. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2015.

Donald attended Camp Point High School. He proudly served the U.S. Army for four years and was stationed in Germany. Don worked at Gardner-Denver as an assembler for 41 years. He also was a member of Columbus Methodist Church and Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Donald is survived by a son, Bruce A. Pieper of Mendon, Ill.; a daughter, Linda (Bill) Klodt of Fowler, Ill.; a stepson, William R. (Michelle) Logsdon of Quincy; a stepdaughter, Sherri (Mark) Schmit of Cape Fair, Mo.; a brother, Art (Shirley) Pieper of Quincy; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Donald was preceded in death by a wife, Gertrude K. Pieper; his parents; a son, Robert Pieper; two brothers, Ralph E. and Raymond D. Pieper; and a daughter-in-law, Tamara Logsdon.

SERVICES: 10:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at Greenmount Cemetery, with the Rev. Tim Rosenboom officiating. Inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
