Donna L. Bower

1941 - 2018

Donna L. Bower, 76, of Quincy, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at her home.

She was born Aug. 29, 1941, in Quincy, a daughter of Gerry J. and Bertha M. (Schmelzle) Belker. She married John (Jack) A. Bower on April 20, 1963, at St. John's Catholic Church in Quincy. He survives.

Donna graduated from Notre Dame High School. She was employed at Bank of America as a bank teller, retiring in 2003.

Donna was a member of the Ladies of St. Francis, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Women's City Club and Western Catholic Union. Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially cherished visits from her grandchildren, Kayla and Dylan Bower of Denison, Texas. Donna immensely enjoyed playing cards at card parties and bridge at the Women's City Club. She loved to travel to the Caribbean islands, Hawaii and to Mexico while living in Yuma, Ariz.

In addition to her husband, Jack, she is survived by her children, Michael J. Bower of Chouteau, Okla., William J. Bower of Durant, Okla., and Jeffrey A. (Janah) Bower of St. Joseph, Mo.; two grandchildren, Kayla Bower and Dylan J. Bower of Denison; a sister, Dorothy Reinebach of Quincy; a sister-in-law, Georgian Belker of Quincy; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerry and Bertha Belker; two brothers, Clarence (Bud) Belker and her twin brother, Ronald Belker; and one sister, Mildred Binkley.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Kuse conducting. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

MEMORIALS: St. Francis Catholic Church or Quincy Notre Dame.
