Larry Keith Williams

1927 - 2018

Larry Keith Williams, 80, of Quincy, passed away at 4:03 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Good Samaritan Home.

Larry was born Dec. 25, 1937, in Fairmount Township, Pike County, to Ross Eugene and Lois Florine Waters Williams. Because of the death of his mother when he was 2 years old, he was raised by his paternal grandparents, Russell and Alice (Bonnifield) Williams.

He married Virginia Jane Rose Williams on January 1959, in Peoria. She preceded him in death April 11, 2018.

After working at Motorola, Larry and Virginia started Williams Shooters Supply in their basement in 1971. Larry enjoyed being involved with running the business, or at least giving advice, until the last day of his life. In his free time, Larry enjoyed reading, shooting, hunting, fishing and watching any kind of auto racing. He also enjoyed traveling across the country camping with his wife in their RV.

Larry was a member of Herman Lodge 39, Quincy Consistory and Ansar Temple. He was also a longtime member of the Belgian Hitch.

Larry is survived by a daughter, Amy Hopkins (Paul) of Canton, Mo.; a son, Kent Williams of Quincy; two grandchildren, Kathryn Williams of Bangor, Maine, and Daniel Williams of Quincy; Former daughters-in-law, Pamela Wiewel of Quincy and Leanne Knorr of Fowler; a brother, Joe Williams (Barbara) of Quincy; a sister, Nina Mae (John) Seibel of Clayton; two brothers-in-law, James Rose of Stockton, Calif., and Charles Rose of Paloma, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his wife, Virginia, he was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two sisters-in-law, Betty Rose and Helen Rose; and nephew, Stanley Rose.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Pastor Carol Stufflebeam conducting. Herman Lodge 39 will conduct Masonic services 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24. Burial will be in Paloma Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
