Richard E. Davis

1935 - 2017

QUINCY -- Richard E. Davis, 81, of 2420 Chatten Drive, Quincy, died at 3:11 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at Blessing Hospital.

Richard was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Quincy, a son of Clifford J. and Juanita Davis. He married Dolores A. Riley on March 20, 1954, at Union United Methodist Church in Quincy. She preceded him in death on July 22, 2008, after 54 years of marriage.

Richard was a graduate of Quincy High School. He worked for Quincy Paper Mill of five years, followed by 37 years at Churchill Truckline. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 21-No. 688. Richard enjoyed being in his garden, fishing, hunting and spending time at the Mark Twain Casino.

Survivors include three children, Deborah (David) Walkenshaw of Adrian, Mo., Robert Brent (Sandy) Davis of Quincy and Richard E. Davis Jr. of Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren, Larry (Jessica) Dorsey of Quincy, Mary Dorsey of Bluffton, Ind., Delray (Ann) Dorsey of Weymouth, Mass., Melonie Pritchett of Peculiar, Mo., and Jesse (Kerri) Stroot of O'Fallon, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren, Isacc and Ora Pritchett, Ashley, Kayla and Savannah Weldt, Delray Jr., Austin and Cody Dorsey and Dyker Andrews; and two sisters, Karen Kalaber and Phyllis Feld.

In addition to his wife, Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

SERVICES: 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Carol Stufflebeam conducting. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
