Arla Kay Tomman, age 82, of Fulton, died Monday, August 11, 2025 at Mercy One Genesis in Davenport, IA.
Arla was born December 24, 1942 in Fulton, IL, the daughter of Marvin and Margaret (Schaver) Van Zuiden. She married Ronald "Skip" Tomman on August 29, 1960 in Fulton. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2024. One of Arla's first jobs was at Dew Drop In in Fulton which is where she and Skip met. She was later employed at Nielson's Garment Factory, Woody's, and Fulton High School for several years. Arla and Skip were snowbirds who enjoyed camping in Texas. She also enjoyed crafts, most recently wood burning.
She is survived by her three sons, Darrell (Betty) Tomman of Thomson, Brian Tomman of Clinton, IA, and Michael (Deb) Tomman of Clinton, IA; one sister, Linda Davis of Fulton; one brother, Don (Terry) Van Zuiden of Rio Ranch, NM; one sister-in-law, Regina Van Zuiden of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Nicole Kershner, Joe Tomman, Justin Tomman, Kayle Fransen, Serina Rippy, Austin Fain, Sydnee Rippy, and Julin Peterson; and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Larry Van Zuiden and Michael Van Zuiden.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from noon-2:00 PM at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1601 16th Avenue, in Fulton. The funeral will follow at 2:00 with Pastor Wayne Wiersema officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
