Harriet Baker Obituary

Harriet Lillian Baker (Moynahan) of Hingham died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, Jan. 30. Born in Boston, in 1926, to Frederick Granville Moynahan and Lillian Teresa Piotti, she was predeceased by her devoted husband of 63 years, Stephen Baker Jr. She was the mother of Stephanie Baker Andersen of Hingham and her husband Neil, Susan Hayward of Plymouth and her husband Gregory, Stacey Baker Marcellino of Milton and her husband James and Stephen Baker of Carlsbad, California and his wife Claudette; grandmother of Sean Hayward, Clifton Hayward, James Marcellino, Marianna Marcellino, Stephen Baker Jr. and Abigail Baker; great-grandmother of Emily and James Hayward; sister of the late Frederick Moynahan Jr. and Marion Donnell. She graduated from North Quincy High School and attended Boston University. Mrs. Baker had a successful career as an interior designer, owning and operating a design firm and fine furniture store. As a 60-year resident of Hingham, she was an active member of the community; involved with the Hingham Historical Society, the South Shore Conservatory of Music, South Shore Hospital and Hingham Mothers Club. Mrs. Baker enjoyed skiing, tennis and sailing. She was a former member of the Hingham Yacht Club and the Neighborhood Club of Quincy. She and her husband traveled frequently to Great Britain to pursue their interest in architecture and antiques. They wintered in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands for the past 30 years where they were members of the St. Croix Yacht Club, Ha'Penny Beach Club and St. Croix Landmark Society. A private memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate consideration to the Episcopal Parish of Saint John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham, MA or the Hingham Historical Society, P.O.
