Perry Valentine Obituary

Perry Martin "Cowboy" Valentine

Perry Martin "Cowboy" Valentine, 27, died in Everett on or about March 28, 2013. Perry was born in Atlanta, GA May 21, 1985, and was adopted as a newborn by Mark and Michelle Valentine.
He attended Mukilteo Elementary School and Olympic View Middle School, and graduated from Chrysalis High School. While school was often difficult for him, he was quick witted, with a sharp sense of humor and an encyclopedic memory for details about his favorite movies. Perry then enlisted in the US Army, but his career was cut short by his asthma and he returned home after a medical discharge. He worked as a janitor, jewelry salesman and security guard.
Perry was very fond of animals, and worked for a time as volunteer at the Everett Animal Shelter. He believed there was never such a thing as too many tattoos. He had a passion for firearms, and held military servicemen and police officers in high regard. His dream was to someday qualify for a career in law enforcement.
Perry is survived by his parents, his beloved younger brother, Owen, aunts, uncles, three cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and by his cousin, Jim Gutman.
His cremation will be followed by a memorial service on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Evergreen Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Marysville, at 2 p.m.
Memorial gifts should be directed to the Everett Animal Shelter or to the Veteran's organization of your choice.

Cowboy,
It was beautiful out today. The sun is beginning to share its summer heat and the wind still carries the floral scent of spring. On my way through a parking lot this afternoon, I saw a powdered sugar face dog resting on the edge of an open window, baking in the warmth with closed eyes. You were the first person I thought of. I think of you often this time of year. I knew you only briefly, but you left a lifetime long impression on me, and so many others.
I will be donating to The Everett Animal Shelter in your name this month.

Dear Perry, you are still in my mind when you came to see us in Milan, with Owen and your parents. We could share a nice funny time together, short but intense. You will always be that nice young boy in my heart, forever.

Wondering if you will see this. Thinking about Cowboy. He still makes a difference, all the time.

Dear Mark, Michelle and Owen, I just heard about Perry and am so sorry for your loss. He was a delightful neighbor and I loved his friendly ways. His visits and our chats were great fun for me and I remember him as an adventurous boy with great charm. I wish I were closer to help you through this difficult time. Love, Maryse

I should have said before, how much you affected my life. I should have sought you out, to tell you I am changed. In this life your care and concern, even through disappointment and anger made a difference. I'm a better person for having known you.
I believe fully you are in the company of Jesus, and that is my only solace. You're in better company.

to the valentine family ~
there really are not words that can convey the heartfelt emotion and sadness upon hearing of perry's passing......i knew you through your dad's stories when we visited his office. he wove a tapestry of your life that allowed me to feel as though i knew you. my son is your age, and so it was as if i was hearing of another wonderful soul out there growing up. sometimes struggling, a strong will, and always with great heart and humor. i knew of your love of animals, and your interest in criminal justice ~ things that were common threads in my life. i wish you peaceful passage young man. blessings and gentleness to your family and friends who had the honor of knowing you so well.

Dear Michelle, and Family.....
I have no words to express my sadness for all of you. What I can say is that your son Perry, is in the arms of his GOD. He is free from any sadness, pain and fear he was dealing with. I did not know your Son, Michelle, but I feel I know you well enough, to know that your kind and loving spirit made you an amazing Mother.... The Mother that God had ALWAYS planned you'd be for Perry. As you have "watched" over your beautiful Son during his lifetime..... He is now your angel, watching over you... I pray that God keeps his loving arms of protection around the Valentine family, now, and as you navigate through your loss. I'm so sorry..... :0(

I am so very sorry for your loss! I worked many hours with Perry in Jewellery sales, sometimes 30+ hours a week. He made the long boring days entertaining and hilarious. We shared the most off the wall stories and ideas and always asked each other for advice in our love lives. He was a truly great and loving man with so much to offer to this world. He is loved and will be greatly missed! Rest in paradise Perry, may you never know again what it feels like to wear a frown. May you enjoy an eternity of happiness and feel nothing but Love.

I am truely sorry for your loss. I met Cowboy when he was my neighbor and thought what a sweet and delightful young man. He was about the age of my grandchildren. I worked with Perry at Fred Meyer, and he was a great guy. I loved the conversation I had with him, and would run into him from time to time after he left the company. We would always catch up and chat for a while before parting ways, only to run into each other a month or so later. You will be greatly missed Perry!

Dear Mark,Michelle and Owen,
We grieve with you in Perry's sudden passing. It's been a long while since seeing him, but what comes to mind is that ear-to-ear impish grin almost too big for this wiry, charming, blond-haired boy in grade school. Your loving support enabled him to be the best he could be. May God's presence comfort you and give you peace. Our love and sympathies,

This news breaks my heart. Perry was a unique character with a quick humor and great love for animals. Even though I was a lot older than he, we formed a fast friendship, working together at the animal shelter. We teased each other and laughed a lot. Besides the constant fun, I loved how much he cared for the animals. They were his priority when he was there. I missed him after he left and thought of him often after he went off to live his life. I wish we could have kept in touch. I'm so sorry he's gone. Safe journeys, sweet boy.

I knew Perry from work, he would often come into the bank that I work at in Everett and although I didn't know him extremely well, I did get the chance to speak with him several times over the past couple years including a handful of times outside of work. What an incredibly sad loss. Just from reading these other posts it's amazing how many people he affected in such a positive way and I am no exception. I just wish I'd have had the chance to get to know him better. I feel like I've lost a great friend and my heart aches for him and his family. Love you Bro.

I have never known another man who would stand up for honor like Perry. He wanted to make a difference and to protect everyone, no matter if he even knew them. His heart was enormous, sometimes I wondered if he had any room left for himself in there. He was a beautiful soul and he made an impact in everyone's life that he touched, and it was never in a negative way. We have lost a truly genuine person. My deepest condolences go out to his family and everyone else who loved him. I pray that he is in a place where he feels no pain and can feel all of the love we share for him.
