My son was a Ranger 1/75 from 2006-2010. He went on to university and is now in medical school. I often almost feel guilty that my son came home and continues on with life while so many did not.

I continue to pray for you and others that lost their children in the wars. I can only imagine the pain on Mother's Day.

May the Lord Jesus continue to comfort you.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

To Kristofer's dear family...I saw Kristofer's beautiful memorial stone at Newcastle Cemetery. I do not know you, nor did I have the privilege of knowing Kristofer, but my son Zack may have known him at RHS. I, too, have experienced the tragedy of losing a son and going through the heartache of designing his memorial stone. Our Zachary died in June 2006 when he drowned in the South Fork of the Yuba River at age 22. Please accept my condolences for your loss.
We have an amazing support network for families in our area who have lost children. We have a monthly meeting especially for moms, plus we are hosting the annual Candle Lighting on December 12 which is a beautiful memorial service for our kids. If you would like to know more about the support group or candle lighting, I hope you will contact me.
Again, my heart goes out to you for your loss.
Sincerely,

Kris man we had a lot of fun and good times together back in high school with ROTC and outside of high school. I knew you would move on to become something great. You paid the ultimate sacrifice and for that the world can never repay you. You will never be forgotten, thank you brother. You are an inspiration. I am 8 days off of finishing my first tour of duty in Iraq and I am happy to be coming back to the soil I know and love.

Kristofer was an extremly unique individual, that I had the great fortune to know and see grow into a fine man. The loss of Kristofer, was not only to his family and friends, but also to this great country. Kristofer is a Ranger and Hero in every sense of the word. He lived his life, short though it was, working to help others, be it with a smile, a laugh or a helping hand. What most people spend their lives talking about; doing the right thing, helping others and making the world a better place, Kristofer did! I keep Kristofer's memory close and hope I can live my life as he did. My thoughts stay with you all - Debby, Eddie and Nick.
"Remember Kristofer's LIFE - not the way it ended, Remember his humor and his smiles, Remember he followed his dreams, not because they were easy - but because he believed it was the right thing to do."

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

We would like to thank the community for its kindness and sympathy over these past few months. The cards, letters, phone calls, e-mail messages, visits and prayers have uplifted and sustained us as we struggle through the loss of our son, Kristofer D. S. Thomas. Kris was a proud Army Ranger killed in Afghanistan. He died living his dream and he will live on as our HERO who fought for the democratic freedom we so appreciate and embrace.
The outpouring of support and kindness we have received from so many of you has touched our hearts. A special thank you to the tremendous generosity of the Roseville Police Department, Creekside Shopping Center Starbucks, Men's Warehouse, Claim Jumpers, The Zinfandel Grill, Keith Campbell Chauffeur of Luxury Limousines, Anita Reeves Photography, Roseville High School, The Roseville City Council, Placer County Board of Supervisors, SFC. Don Vasquez our casualty assistant officer, and the Army Ranger brothers and their families. Also, a very special thank you to Coach Al and Coach Don of the Roseville Police Activities League R.P.A.L. whose mission seeks to enrich the lives and develop the physical, mental, and social capabilities of Roseville youth by creating opportunities for positive relationships between youth, police officers, and the community at large. Kris took this wonderful attributes and shared them with his Army brothers by teaching them the fundamentals of boxing and the value of integrity in the ring.
We are very thankful for the time we had with Kristofer. Among many things, we will miss his good humor and desire for adventure. Thank you for being there for us and keeping Kris' memory alive.
We invite you to join us for a remembrance celebration. We will be celebrating on Kristofer's 19th birthday. We will be meeting at his place of rest, Newcastle Cemetery located on Taylor Rd. Newcastle, CA. on October 6, 2007 at noon. At 12:30, we will be releasing white balloons each addressed to Kris containing a message of love for him. We look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Thomas,
it is in no way possiable to describe how much it hurts that your gone. You are like a borther to me. From the first day we met i knew that me and you were absolutly going to hit it off, we were almost exactly alike, the way we thought, felt towards thing, what we liked, who we didnt like. It was remarkable. All the times in the morning after pt how we would complain about what we had to do, and fight over our only bowl, and who used all the hot water. So many memories i have...and all of them are good. Just know that, i can get by a little easier that what. Know that your name will never be forgoton, know that your legacy lives on, and know that i love you. You wernt just my roomate, or my freind, you were my brother. You will always be missed.
Deborah, i have no words that can express my sorrow to you. I have no idea how much this could possably hurt inside. Just know that your son was a great man, even better freind, and was loved by so many people. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of your family, and to all of his freinds. I know all who knew Krissers, are missing a piece of thier heart, as am i. I love you and cant wait to see you.
May we find each other agian in another life. I love you man...

I met Kristopher in early December 2006 and spent 10 days with my son and Kris and his friends there at Ft Benning. My wife and I then spent several days at Christmas with them at Ft Benning - His memory will live in our hearts forever - he was a delightful, intelligent, caring, athletic, daring, respectful, knowledgeable, irreplaceable individual. Anyone would have been proud to have him as a son, friend, companion, or fellow soldier. We loved - and love him.

God Bless him - his family, and his friends - he will not be forgotten!

It is with deep sadness that I am forced to honor the memory of another fallen Warrior. I ask the family and friends of Pfc. Most of whom you have not met and in all probability will never meet. Our nation sincerely appreciates the sacrifices of your patriot.

Freedom is not free; it is paid for by our heroes!

I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

May God Bless and keep you today, tomorrow and forever!

Rest in Peace Brave Warrior; you did your duty with great honor, dedication and in the Highest Airborne Tradition.

My son Daniel (DJ) Flores is also an Army Ranger and the same age as your son. He is also assigned to Ft Benning and lost one of his brothers in this incident as well. Ryan Garb 20 yrs old came to visit us in Redding prior to his tour to see California. When DJ called us I could hear in his voice a profound sadness. My son also lost his Mom to an illness and this news affected him in the same fashion. To have so many of his brothers from his army family lost has been very hard for him and us. I have you in our daily thoughts and pray for you each day. Your son is our Hero. Although we did not know your son personally, you know as Army parents you adopt each and every service member as your own. Our family will always remember Ryan and Kristofer when we give our blessing as one family. God Bless you.

I remember when I first met you again in guitar class, and then later that week you showed up with one of my friends. It was weird how I meet you at Cooley, and how we became so close during and after school at roseville. You were my homeboy, I you will always have a place in my heart. I miss you, and I love you. <3

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

To Kristofer’s family . . . My heart was so saddened to learn of Kristofer’s death as I read the article in the Press Tribune yesterday. He was so young and had such potential. Your loss is shared by many who knew and loved him. Although I did not know Kristofer, I do know the sense of loss that comes from losing a son. We lost our 22 year old Zack, also a Roseville High School graduate, in June 2006 and we sense that they were a lot alike with their fun-loving attitude toward life. If you would like to talk with a mom who knows the depth of pain you are feeling, I would welcome you to contact me.

Love and prayers to Kristofer's family.

I hope you know that even in the quiet times when you feel so all alone, there are a lot of people who are praying for you and your family.

Your son looks like a wonderful young man. I am sure that you are so proud of him and his accomplishment's.

Love to you,
Denise

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Please know how Deeply Sorry I am, for the loss of
this Brave Young Soldier, Pfc. Kristofer Thomas,
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly,
and as a sister, who has lost a brother to war,
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain
that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, seems to surface
through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
Ever so softly and slowly, time does heal.

May Kristofer Rest Safely, in the Loving Care of God
and know that he Will Never Be Forgotten.
I pray that the Peace of God will be with the Thomas family.
I am the sister, of such a Young Hero, from the 75th Ranger Regiment, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

I sincerely hope that you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and in the days ahead, as this Country Mourns with you, for Someone Very Precious to you, Who Is A Hero to all of us.
You are in my thoughts and prayers
