Barbara A. Luca

Barbara A. (Ball) Luca, 81, died peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1933 and married Joseph Luca in 1959. Barbara and Joe lived for several years in Salem before moving to Shrewsbury and made their home in Paxton for the past 30 years. Barbara loved her family deeply and especially cherished the time spent with her grandson. She loved to read, dance and travel and cherished the quiet times at home surrounded by nature. In addition to her husband, Joe, Barbara leaves her three children, Carmela "Cammy" Calzone and her husband, John of Milford, Frank Luca and his wife, Brenda and Christina Luca of Riverside, RI and her grandson, John Calzone; as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Barbara's family on Monday, October 20, from 4-7 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 21, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. John's Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. Memorial donation, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. John's Food for the Poor Center, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
