Vincent Badala Obituary

Vincent J. Badala, Jr., age 64, passed away in the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Born in Camden, New Jersey on June 9, 1951, he was the son of the late Vincent J. and Elizabeth (Nannicelli) Badala. His family settled in Walpole, Massachusetts a short time later, where Vincent was raised, graduating from Walpole High School with the Class of 1969. While in high school, he became interested in the piano and always enjoyed performing for his family. On Saturdays Vincent traveled with his father to the University of Hartford for over a year and a half to further his studies of the piano with formal classes while still in high school. As an extremely gifted piano player, he was the 1969 winner of the Concord Orchestra Young Artist Competition. After graduation, Vincent began his collegiate studies in music, enrolling in the University of Hartford. When on break from college, Vincent would return home to Walpole, where he would showcase his talents on the piano at local nursing homes, bringing a smile to the patients faces. After moving to the Berkshires, he continued his college studies and graduated from the New England Conservatory in 1981 and earned his Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 1994. Beloved son of the late Vincent J. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Nannicelli) Badala. Loving brother of Mary and her husband Peter Connolly of Foxboro, and Roger N. Badala of Walpole. Cherished uncle of Kevin Connolly and his wife Susan of Franklin, Kristen Buckley and her husband Shawn of Foxboro, and Meagan Leach and her husband Ken of North Smithfield, RI. Cherished nephew and Godson of Marie Keezer of East Walpole. Also survived by his 10 great nieces and nephews and many cousins. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Vincents Life Celebration on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. I was born one day before Vinnie and graduated from WHS the same year. Sometime around 1979 or so Vinnie lived with me at 45 crescent st in Franklin. He hadn't played the piano in several years and didn't appear inclined to resume anytime soon. In school, he cleaned up every talent show with his amazing command of the piano. Just a nice funny, humble guy, he moved on after a few months, sad to see him leave us so soon.

To my favorite cousin. Thanks for the fond memories of watching and listening to you play the piano. May you rest in peace. Love, Lisa
