After all these years, it still seems like yesterday that we were together; picnics in the park, climbing trees, knitting/sewing, riding bikes, going to the swimming pool and so much more! Over the years I have come to realize it doesn't really matter what we have or what status we attain in life. What really matters is the way we treat each other while acting out our vocations God has given us so that we can be accepted into Heaven along with as many others on this earth as possible! Cynthia lived her life that way daily and has shown us how we must live also until we meet again one day. Prayers for everyone until then. Love you Cynthia!

Dear Cynthia: it´s been a hard, long year. If you can see this from Heaven, you now know we lost one of our unique souls to a rock climbing accident. It feels like we lost you all over again as he, like you, is now gone too soon! I can´t wait to meet God one day to ask Him what this big plan of life is all about. If I get to meet Him then I will thankfully be reunited with you and our Andrew (Bumkin / Kissy Cheeks) Munds and Aunt Roberta, Millie who also died this year and mom, dad, Joe Gunn and all our aunts and uncles and grands and great grands. One thing I know for certain, Heaven needed your help as do all of us still on this earth. Please continue to bless us all. We miss you! Elaine

Yesterday was another "911". All those beautiful souls gone but not forgotten; just as with Cynthia. Had I known she would be gone, I would have reached out and said one more heartfelt "thank you". Thanks for being such a beautiful human being to all you came in contact with. Thanks for your tender Christ-like heart. To Cynthia´s mom, dad, children and grandchildren: As days and weeks continue to pass, and as you carry on with you life routine, may you continue to feel comforted by my ongoing love, support and prayers! May God bless each of you! Elaine

Dear Chris and Rosalie,
I think of Cynthia often and invoke her blessing on my life and work -- now mostly canine rescue, most meaningful and rewarding to care for "the least of these."
I promise to pray for you and your family in these moments of calling on Cindy. Life -- and gratitude are eternal.

Dear Cynthia, Today's date is December 19, 2019, we have been looking at pictures and discarding some, what a very hard decision. The Christmas cards arriving bring back lots of Old memories and Charlotte, N. C., thoughts have a great amount of Nostalgia but there are many others also such the Grand Canyon, the Colorado State Fair, the Children's Museum in St. Louis, Mo., and the IHOPS both in the Katy, Tx., area and the Charlotte. There are so many things like the park in Lacrosse, Ks. Bye for now and lets all continue to pray. Love Mom and Dad

I met Cynthia through the Association of Catholic Archivists. I felt like she was a kindred spirit. When we walked down the forest lined lane at St. Mary's in Chicago, she could identify each and every tree and the habits of the forest friends. Later while knitting her prayer shawl, she described a trip to the birthplace to St. Teresa of the Little Flower. Cynthia also enjoyed talking about her loving family. She will be great missed.

I have had the pleasure of working with Cynthia through a business relationship as a vendor for the Diocese of Charlotte (DOC) for many years. Cynthia was a dedicated staff member of the DOC and was very professional and detail orientated in her daily job duties while representing the organization extremely well. She often spoke about her family and loved ones and ‘lit up’ whenever their names came up in a conversation. Cynthia will be missed and never forgotten.

My deepest sympathy to all of Cynthia's children and Aunt Rose and Uncle Chris and Mark Barnes. Cynthia and I went to Prom at Marian High School our Junior year in 1974. We double dated. I have many childhood memories or all the cousins getting together for one reason or another. Cynthia always was thoughtful, willing to help and full of passion for loving all. She will be missed but remembered in life after death. Love Geri

Cynthia graced our lives almost from the first day we moved to Charlotte. Our daughters, Meredith and Katlin, were inseparable for awhile, and we grew closer and closer even as they grew apart over the years. She was the highest quality of human being who was always there for her friends, no matter when or where or how difficult the problem. Cynthia was one of the best friends I've ever had in the 65 years I've had. The only way we can understand her passing over at such an early age is God must need her strength and compassion and loving kindness more than we do right now. We deeply regret we only learned today of Cynthia's passing, and could not be with her family and friends at the Mass to celebrate her awe-inspiring life.

Cynthia touched my life so gently. She was a new friend to me that I met through yoga, and I was so looking forward to getting to know her better.
I do know that her heart overflowed with love for her children and grandson and all of creation. I feel so blessed to have spent time with her, and I will hold the memories close to my heart.

Cindy was truly an inspiration to everyone she met. During our years at GBHS together, we talked, laughed, and even cried together. She always helped me to see the good and positive sides of people and situations. Cindy had a kind word for everyone she knew. She was a role model and true leader in every sense of the word, and I'm pleased to be able to call her my friend. I will always treasure the memories of her. We are deeply sorry and extremely heart broken. Cynthia was truly a great friend of our family. Cynthia and I enjoyed so many hours together as neighbors. Even as she was in NC, she was never far from my thoughts.. Now I know that "Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come" 2 Corinthians 1: 21,22. I pray for comfort and the peace that passeth all understanding for all of you in the days to come. We will always treasure the memories we had with her.

Somehow my 1st message doesn't seem to be here. I am so glad I got to have dinner with Cynthia, Chris and Rose the night before she flew back home. (She and Chris were making little paper airplanes from the paper napkin rings). That is one of the things that are so special about her. She could fit in in any situation. We took her to Arizona with us one time when our kids were little and we had so much fun. She will be missed dearly-I think God needed a Special Angel for a Special Assignment-and so He called Cynthia back to Him. We are praying for all she has left behind. Uncle Chris & Aunt Rose,
Cynthia was an extraordinary person and truly an extension her parents. I have a fond memory of her vacationing with us in Rio Rico, AZ because, as a small child, I had wandered off to the deep end of the swimming pool and was struggling to stay above water. She immediately rescued me before anything happened and I will never forget.

Uncle Chris and Aunt Rose,
My heart aches for you. Cynthia was always the best big cousin. She never grew inpatient with any of us. She loved playing games. I remember being at your house one weekend and she had to go to St. Pat's to practice the readings and singing for church. She let me go with her. I was sitting in the pew watching her and thinking...how does one grow up so smart, pretty and dedicated to God and family. She had such grace and poise, yet she was so normal and down to earth. She was beautiful both inside and out. You are wonderful parents and a blessing from God to all your nieces and nephews. I am sending you a hug with all my love and our deepest sympathies. I have prayed for all of you at least 20 times a day and will continue to do so. I am so sorry we can not come tomorrow, but I promise I will come visit you when you return.

Cynthia's life portrayed so lovingly the beauty of friendship. What a privilege to have known and worked with her these past ten years. God gifted Cynthia with many talents, the grace of caring, and a deep spirituality that was reflected in her short life. She did everything with quiet perfection.
There were no "goodbye's". Cynthia just stepped into eternity leaving behind a life of love that affected so many friends. Cynthia was a "pearl of great price."

I didn't know Cynthia except through the many people at the Loyola Institute for Ministry (New Orleans) who have spoken so lovingly of her. Cynthia touched all those with whom she studied for her Master's Degree from LIM, and she continues to touch us deeply through her creative work - especially a beautiful liturgical vestment that celebrates the wonders of God's creation. May she have peace, singing the song of the universe in God's presence. Evelyn Thibeaux (LIM faculty)

Cynthia distinguished herself as a Loyola University (New Orleans) graduate, earning her Masters in Pastoral Studies degree with a specialization in Religion and Ecology. I met her when she came to campus for the first time for Commencement in April of 2006. She had made a liturgical vestment celebrating the universe story as part of her coursework. Creative and beautiful it was with the universe story portrayed on the back through stars and galaxies and the earth with its beautiful life forms on the front. Our celebrant, Fr. Jerry Fagin, SJ, wore the chasuble in our liturgy of celebration. Cindy upon request said a few modest words about the meaning and motivation inspiring her work of art which became as powerful as it was memorable a representation of unity, learning, and mission. About a year later she visited Thomas Berry in Greensboro and shared her vestment with him as a kind of tribute to all he had taught her. While she is gone from us all too soon, I expect she's enjoying a new and deeper experience of that Creation from whence we all come and to which we all return. I now pray to you, Cindy, for wisdom and steadfastness.
