David Pfefferkorn Obituary
July 1, 1947 - August 7, 2024
David Pfefferkorn, a witty soul with a heart full of adventure, was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on July 1, 1947. He graduated from Reynolds High School, attended Duke University and then joined the US Navy, where he served as a lifeguard and Navy swimmer. He completed his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at UNC-Chapel Hill. David's professional career began in the field of Information Technology but the lure of the sea and his adventurous spirit led him to a successful career as a Yacht Broker. A member of the Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club and the Oriental Rotary Club, he also served as a Board Member of the Fairfield Harbour Property Owner's Association. His love for music was evident in his participation in the Fairfield Harbour Chorus and the Southern Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus and Quartet in New Bern.
His most cherished moments were spent with his beloved wife, Leigh, sailing and boating. His joy was amplified when surrounded by his family, which includes his daughter Torri (Chris) Wray, grandsons Collin and Marshall Wray, sister Dianne Hobbs, brothers James and John Pfefferkorn, sister Elizabeth (John) Conway, nephew and godson Andrew Hobbs, and a special niece Jean Dickson. He is survived by numerous grandnieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Angelle Pfefferkorn.

Dave was my roommate, friend, and part-time chemistry tutor for the year 1969-70 at UNC. In that year together I got to play bass for him in various club performances which featured his uncannily great version of Alice´s Restaurant. I remember his humor, his daring, his quick mind and his love of photography. May he Rest In Peace.
