MOUNT AIRY - Mr. James Alvin Scott Sr. "Scotty," 58, of 715 Rockford St. enjoyed his life from Aug. 11, 1944, to April 2, 2003. From Nov. 2002, he made his home at Park Ridge Living Center in Fletcher. His zest for life, fun and laughter will continue through his wife, Cheryl Yellow Fawn Neal Scott of Mount Airy; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Curtis Campbell of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Krishna Scott of Winston-Salem and her special friend, Dorian McKoy; a son, James Alvin Scott II "Jaimi" of Parkersburg, W.Va. and his special friend, Michele Fancy; a daughter, Kara Scott of Mount Airy and her special friend, Carlos Scales; and his mother Genie Mae Scott of Statesville. Other family members 1eft behind to carry out his dreams and wishes include his grandchildren, Sydney and Britton Campbell of Franklin, Tenn., Bailey Scales of Mount Airy and James Alvin Scott III "Tre" of Parkersburg, W.Va.; brothers John Calvin Scott of Cleveland, Ohio and Mark Scott and Norwood Sigmon, both of Statesville; his mother-in-law, Gladys Neal Bailey of Mount Airy; a sister-in-law, LaDonna (James) McCarther of Mount Airy; a godson, Jonathan Scott Lightfoot of Mount Airy; members of the North Main Church of Christ in Mount Airy; and foster sisters, Traci Scott, Patsy Caldwell and Ann Cooper of Statesville, Hattie (Harris) Mathis of Rock Hill, S.C., Helen (Ivan) Smith of Spring, Texas, Nancy Beatty and Patricia Pat (Lawrence) Jones of Charlotte. Scotty was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie A. Scott of Statesville. Scotty's desire for self-improvement was gained through his graduation from Unity High School in Statesville; Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte; and his master's degree from UNC-Charlotte. He taught in the Fairmont school system before moving to Charlotte. He retired from UNC-Charlotte as admissions and recruiting officer. He was a member of Highland Acres Church of Christ of Statesville and the North Main Church of Christ in Mount Airy, where he was a deacon. Friends and family will gather at Spencer Funeral Home Saturday, April 5, 2003, from 7 to 8 p.m. to celebrate his homegoing. Scotty's family and friends will celebrate his life Sunday, April 6, 2003 at the Mount Airy High School auditorium at 2 p.m. with a resting place service to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy.
