Lisa Saunders Obituary

Saunders, Lisa Calloway

May 2, 1969 - November 17, 2021

Lisa Calloway Saunders, age 52, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021 after a courageous fight with breast cancer. Lisa was born in Forsyth County to the late Betty and James "Bud" Calloway on May 2, 1969. She was married to Michael Saunders, with whom she had three children, Emily, Alex, and Austin. Lisa was a kind and gentle soul who was very involved at her church, New Philadelphia Moravian, where she was a member of the band and regularly taught children's Sunday School classes. She had a strong appreciation for nature and enjoyed traveling with her family. Lisa lived by the word "joy" and will rightfully be remembered by her constant smiles and laughter. Lisa was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Michael, three children Emily, Alex, and Austin, and by her sisters Lori Schamay (Bob), Gina Calloway, and Joni Hunter (Doug). A service will be held at New Philadelphia Moravian Church on December 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Cancer Services, 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
