Makieya Rae Smith, 20, transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal on Saturday, July 03, 2021. She was born July 02, 2001 to Tremona (Rodney) Purvis and Mica (Tanisha) Smith in Forsyth County. She was educated in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools and graduated from Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte NC, majoring in Business. Makieya embarked on a career as a prominent business owner of Rae Dior, Designs by Rae Dior, and Invisible Waist Trainer. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, her ambitious admiration touched the lives of every person she encountered. She leaves to cherish her memories: her fiancée Walter Lionel McNeal; parents: Tremona (Rodney) Purvis and Mica (Tanisha) Smith; siblings: Rodney Purvis Jr., Semaj Reid, Treshawn Cappers and Jennifer Taylor; grandparents: Earnestine J. Cornelius, Avis Miller Sewell and Ollie Smith; aunts: Charlotte Brown, Shaunta Montgomery, Natasha Lytles and Jennifer Quail; uncles Thomas Bradley, Tony Smith; great aunts: Pastor Alice M. Mitchell (Larry) and Barbara C. Manning; brother in-law Walter Samuel McNeal; a host of cousins, other family and friends.
Makieya Rae Smith Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 noon Monday July 12, 2021 at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Nathan Scovens. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. There will be no public viewing of Miss Smith.

I didn´t know you but I ran across your sweet mother on FB today. I immediately connected with the way you were her everything as I, too, lost my everything when I lost my daughter to undiagnosed childbirth complications on July 4th, 2017. She was just 2 years older than you when she left us. I hope you will find my daughter Kayla up there in paradise & tell her how much I love & miss her & that her baby boy is thriving & doing better than we could have ever hoped. Please tell her that her stepdad and I will continue to take the best care of her precious baby boy for the rest of our days. I promise to try to encourage your mama as she misses you every moment. You were a beautiful presence on earth & I can only imagine how beautiful you must be as an angel. Rest in heavenly peace & please don´t forget to find my daughter. The two of you would make great friends.
