Mark Berger Obituary

BERGER PINEHURST - Mark J. Berger passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010 in Pinehurst with his family by his side. A Memorial Service will be held at the Village Chapel in Pinehurst on Wednesday, August 25, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Larry Ellis and Dr. Al Hill officiating. Mark was born in North Tonawanda, New York and moved to the Carolinas in 1973. He loved his family and was looking forward to being a grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy of nearly 40 years and treasured daughter, Candyce; and sister, Marjorie Benz of Canton, GA. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Alex Slipko (Jackie), Lawrence Slipko (Christine); sisters-in-law, Carol Slipko, April Gillis (Joseph) and Deborah Scherrer (Aaron), along with his nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to The Village Chapel , P.O. Box 1060, Pinehurst, NC 28370. Arrangements are by Boles Funeral Home of Pinehurst. Mark was such a good person. He had a big heart and wanted his family and friends to be always be happy. We had not been in contact in some time, but he and Nan have been in our thoughts. What wonderful, happy memories we have. He is loved and will be missed.

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's passing. Mark and his family were great friends to me for many years in Winston Salem. He was a fun and witty guy who could always laugh at a moments notice. Nancy and Candyce I am so sorry for your loss.
