Patricia Cain Obituary

CAIN HIGH POINT - Patricia Jones Cain, 78, of 1208 Westminster Drive, High Point, N.C., died peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 3rd, at Emery-wood Baptist Church with Dr. Robert U. Ferguson, Jr. and Dr. Harold C. Warlick officiating. Inurnment will be private at the church columbarium. Pat was born January 3, 1931, in Greenville, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Arthur Eugene Jones and Ethel Smith Jones. A resident of High Point for 37 years, she previously lived with her family in Winston-Salem, Asheville and Charlotte. A graduate of Greenville High School, she attended Converse College, and received a degree in Communications and Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. An active local Realtor for the past twenty years and, holding her GRI and CRS designations, she was most recently associated with Price and Associates and Wright Company Realtors, following an association with Craven-Johnson-Pollock Realtors for many years. Pat was a member of Emerywood Baptist Church where she was active in a wide variety of church programs. Her involvement in community organizations included the Board of Directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, a member of the Midweek Garden Club, the High Point Debutante Club and a sustaining member of the High Point Junior League. During prior residency in Charlotte, Asheville and Winston-Salem, she was particularly active in Little Theater and teacher substitute in the local school systems. Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years, E. Lee Cain; her son, Charles Lee Cain and his wife, Ann, of High Point, N.C. and their daughters Olivia, Claire and Charlotte; her son, James Palmer Cain and his wife Helen of Raleigh, N.C and their daughters Cameron and Laura; and her son, Patrick E. Cain and his wife, Sarah, of Gainesville, Florida, and their sons Clay and Nicholas. Also surviving is one sister, Eugenia Jones Potter, and her husband Ed Potter of Greenville, S.C., and eight nephews and one niece. The family will welcome visitors at the home, located at 1208 Westminster Drive, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, June 2. On Wednesday, June 3, a memorial service of celebration of the life of Pat Cain will be conducted at Emerywood Baptist Church, following which the family will receive friends in the Gathering Area. The family expresses deep gratitude to the professional and staff personnel of the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Intensive Care Unit, the WFU Physicians and many other components of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for the wonderful care and comfort provided over a period of several years of a long battle with cancer and especially during the recent final days. Memorials are suggested to be directed to either Wake Forest University School of Medicine for Hematology and Oncology, Office of Development, Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27157; Emerywood Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 1300 Country Club Drive, High Point, N.C. 27262; or one' s personal favored charity.
