ALTADENA, Calif. - Reginald Barnett Richardson of Altadena was born in Winston-Salem, N.C., to the late George and Ola Richardson on Sept. 28, 1939. He passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Pasadena's Huntington Memorial Hospital. He graduated from Atkins High School and set out to accomplish great things. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from N.C. AT&T; two master's degrees from California State University in Los Angeles in English and education; and credentials in teaching and special education. In addition, he was a licensed barber, real estate broker and appraiser. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Kelly O.P. Goodwin before moving to California. Reginald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Richardson; nine children, Reginald (Wanda) Richardson II, Sabrina Richardson, Stephon (Janice) Richardson, Darryl (Karen) Richardson, Terrance Bing-Park, September Richardson, Regina Richardson, Andre (Kandace) Richardson and Sherwood Williams; and 12 grandchildren, Reginald Richardson III, Skyler Richardson, Camille Richardson, Sebastian Richardson, Stephon Richardson II, Lebron Richardson, Tasia Richardson, Treasure Richardson, Lance Wyndon II, Chase Wyndon, Chelsea Kennard and Kendra Kennard. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Grady Richardson; and a sister, Elizabeth R. Wongus. He additionally is survived by five brothers, Benjamin Richardson of Plattsburgh, N.Y., George N. Richardson of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gilbert and Wilbert (Jean) Richardson, Ronald (Celanda) Richardson; three sisters, Octavia R. (Harry) Thornton, Artanzia R. Jones and Evelyn R. Foster, all of Winston-Salem; father-in-law and mother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Elmer and Lula M. West; two sisters-in-law, Brenda (Theodis) MacFarlin and Eleanor Eaton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, Feb. 18, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with Dr. Serenus T. Churn Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the church. At other times, the family may be contacted at the home of a sister, Artanzia R. Jones, at 2919 Glenn Ave. Johnson-Howard-Robinson Home of Memory is in charge of all services.
