GERMANTON - Mrs. Ruth Marcelene "Tubby" Hoskins Duncan, 74, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Stokes Reynolds Hospital. She was born in Rockingham County to Jesse Frank Haskins Sr. and Mary Amos Haskins. She was a secretary at Germanton Elementary School and Bolivia School and faithfully attended Germanton United Methodist Church. Mrs. Duncan was a devoted wife for 52 years to Wade H. Duncan, who preceded her in death Dec. 2, 2001. Surviving are three children, Wade Jayson (Gail) Duncan of Pine Hall, Wendy (David) Owens of Danbury and Kate-Etta Duncan of Concord; four grandchildren, Kara and Jay Duncan and Amanda and Megan Owens; a great-grandchild, Cori McMillan; four siblings, J.F. Haskins Jr. of Reidsville, Mary Ann Willis of Mayodan and Roberta Shockley and Donna Boyd, both of Eden; and a special aunt, Ellen "Sister" Tulloch. An 11 a.m. funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Burroughs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Spencer and the Rev. Dwight Cartner officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home and other times at Mrs. Duncan's home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wade and Marcelene Duncan Scholarship Fund, Winston Salem Foundation, 860 W. Fifth St., Winston Salem, NC 27101.
