Jonathan Rivera Obituary
Jonathan, affectionately known by many as Jonny, was born June 3, 1977, in Portage, WI to Jesse and Mary Rivera. Jonny grew up in Fox Lake, WI and attended St John's Lutheran School through the 8th grade. He then went on to attend Waupun High School and graduated in 1995.
During Jonny's high school years, he worked for the family business where he became knowledgeable in many aspects of plumbing and construction. He enjoyed spending summer days with his maternal grandparents, Esther and Willard Buchholz on their farm in Dakota, WI. Whether it was fishing at the lake, stacking wood for the winter or riding ponies at the Golden Horse Ranch, Jonathan always loved and deeply valued Grandma Esther and Grandpa Willard and their farmland. Another favorite activity Jonny enjoyed was visiting his grandparents and many other relatives in Texas as often as he could.
Jonny was a movie and history buff. His nickname Jonny Ringo came from his favorite movie Tombstone. Jonathan also enjoyed many outdoor activities with family and friends. Duck hunting being one of his favorites. He often spent the opening day of the duck season on Fox Lake with his best friend of many years who became more like a brother, Eon Dahlke and the Ducky Boys. He also enjoyed trout fishing, trapping, bow and gun hunting for deer.
Jonathan is survived by his mother, Mary Rivera of Westfield, WI, his sister, Patricia (James) Miller of Ripon, WI, his niece and nephew, Isabella and Willard Miller as well as many other beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Rivera, maternal and fraternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family is asking all to please donate to your favorite charity in honor of Jonny, in remembrance of his life.
A casual celebration of Jonny's life will be held on Sunday, August 11th beginning at 12 noon at the American Legion Post 521 hall on 220 West State Street, Fox Lake, WI.

It is with deepest sympathy that I am sending to the family! I did not know Johnny, but I do know his Mom quite well, and I'm sure he was a gift to all that had the pleasure of knowing him!
